Is it normal for a 30 year old to be obsessed with sesame street

I'm not a parent, I watch it by myslef. I am not mentally handicapped, and there is nothing psychologically wrong with me. I especially like 70s and 80s episodes.

Is It Normal?

  • Nothing wrong with liking sesame street as an adult. A lot of the new episodes(at least that I've seen) tend to parody currents trends and movies so it makes the show a little more enjoyable for the parents who get stuck watching it too

Some other adults watch it because they're really interested in the puppetry

Some adults watch it to see the celebrity appearances

Some adults watch it purely for the entertainment of the show

Some adults watch it because they like to support the show/broadcasting network

Some adults watch it because they love the humor and storytelling in some episodes

Some adults watch it because they find it relaxing kind of like Mr Rogers Neighborhood, Winnie the Pooh, Curious George, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Caillou... All shows that could probably put you to sleep with how relaxing they can be lol

And some watch it to try to understand their kids thought process/feelings better

I don't see much wrong with it. Watch whatever show you feel like watching man

  • Nothing wrong with that. That is just adorable.

  • I find PBS shows very soothing. I used to watch Clifford the Dog before going to work. It was relaxing.

  • I haven't seen it lately but I watched that shit from childhood all through my 20's. (I was born in '79) I did have a kid in 2000, but I'd still watch it alone sometimes. And Nickelodeon...

  • I'm 46 and still love Sesame Street. My fave is Cookie Monster and a few weeks ago I bought a talking plush toy of him from Target and it sounds just like him <3.

  • I like watching the celebrity appearances, especially if they're singers that sing songs. Like Bruno Mars singing "Don't give up" or Usher singing "ABC".

  • Sesame Street was the shitz. I'm an 80s child, and I've looked up certain clips from the 70s and 80s that I remember. It's so cool to be able to see them again.

That I-Beam clip, man. Nightmare fuel for a kid.

  • well. that's a sign of childhood issues. the most common being "not allowed to be a child". does that sound like you?

  • If I were you I would say like rather than obsessed. Obsessed as much as a child? Or just appreciate the writing?

    • As in I spend a couple of hours watching it every night and I'll cry when Carroll Spinney dies.
