Sounds like you've overreacted in opposition to your father. Feminism has (or had?) a purpose equalising wages, voting rights etc, but it's not something to base very action around! Most people get by in relationships without having to question gender roles. It's the 21st century!
Women may not express it but they are crying alone deep inside. I'll tell you the case of my sister. Her husband forced her to quit her job to take care of the kids.
I just feel that there should be nothing in this world which discriminates between a man and a woman, no matter how negligible.
