Okay, so I want to go out with this guy who's 3 years younger than me, but I have no idea of how to approach him. Is it normal to still be hopeless at this at my age??

    You could always do the facebook thing, ask him if he's on there and start talking to him that way.

    A mate of mine did that with a girl he liked and was too shy to ask her straight out. They've been seeing each other for about 3 months now :)

    Hey, we all fear rejection. You want hard, try asking a woman out. There's a book about a woman who dressed as a guy for months and even she admitted the hardest thing about it was asking women out!

    Some guys are weirded out by women who take the initative to ask you out, but you don't want those guys anyway. Buy him a drink, get tickets to a concert and ask if he wants to go, if he's interested, he'll respond.

    But yeah, there's no way to insure against rejection.
