Is it normal for a 12 year old boy to hug his father?

How does a hug make you a pussy? It's a sign of affection, friendhip, being a human being. A hug from time to time can say a lot more than words can.
I study abroad. Whenever I fly back home, my dad always greets me with a hug. I know he cares and is happy to see me. Same goes for my mom.
I think people who pretend they are "hardass" about this sort of thing are actually pussies.
