Ok, you're not an idiot. However you will do better if you listen to some of the comments that many people have. When you grew up in your family, you obviously didn't share close togetherness. In many respects, things have change a bit. Maybe it's the world getting a little more dangerous, or the fact that we see whole countries, Egypt for instance have big problems. The world over is a different place, and so is the USA. To give a hug is the very least one can do to assure others that you care and you are there and are available for them if need be.

It's not necessary that everyone lives in the USA. Have people forgotten there are other countries in the world? :o
