I'm the poster and his speech has always been normal if not advanced. I never baby talked (only bc baby talk personally annoys me) although he is going through a stage where he is baby talking with me only. He's like many kids very clever and manipulative. He's "advanced" scholastically because of the pre school he's going to, and my sister who is a teacher comes over often to "tutor" him. By 2 he knew all his numbers up to 20, shapes (like hexagon, we were in the garage one day he was 2 almost 3 and he pointed to a tennis racket and said "mommy, that is an octagon because it has 8 sides), and specific colors like he said "mommy my skin is beige". We would do flash cards etc. Still do but he can now do kindergarten flash cards, and can count to 50 (although starts skipping numbers past 30). I don't chalk this up to being smart just going to a great pre school. Most of the kids in his preschool are like him. It's cute too because he's the stereotypical "smart kid" which his eyeglasses. Anyways my thing isn't the stuff he knows because the majority of kids knw that stuff or can knw if they are taught (little sponges) it's just his memory that really baffles me. I've asked his teacher and she always laughs like "you're telling me, you can't promise this kid anything, bc he will hold you to it, he doesn't forget)
Is it normal for a 4 year old?
