Even though I don't have Facebook, I don't think it's horrible. It can be very useful for keeping in touch with family members and for networking.
What's horrible is people's thirst. THIRST IS THE REAL EVIL. And that thirst was probably there before they logged onto Facebook. Facebook merely aided in the activation.
