  • Oh my God, I hate seeing claims like this. Not because they are false, no, because they make it a feasible idea that people are not responsible for their actions.

People aren't suffering from depression solely because Facebook makes their social lives look like shit. Depression is a chemical imbalance and usually the precursors exist before the triggers.

Parents aren't neglecting children because of Facebook, they are neglecting children because they are shitty parents. Yesterday it was booze, today it is Facebook, tomorrow it may be fucking poker.

Social skills aren't degrading themselves due to Facebook, they are degrading themselves due to lack of self discipline and appreciation for company. I don't check Facebook in the middle of a conversation because I respect the people I am around. If you don't get that same respect from your friends, you may have a deeper issue at hand than Facebook.

Don't blame the catalyst, blame the dickfaces who channel their inner idiocy through it.

    • I am completely for people taking responsibility for their own actions. I would never do any of the listed things because of Facebook either.

I just don't understand why Facebook became a reasonable excuse to be an asshole. People seem to have accepted this as a legitimate excuse.

Why were you speeding? "I had to get my mother to the hospital" vs Why are you swerving in the road? "Oh it was because I was updating my Facebook status. I saw a robin and I need to tell everyone right now"!

      • It isn't a reasonable excuse and whoever thinks it is is a fucking moron. It's like me blaming my car for my reckless driving habit. It doesn't make sense.
