  • Yes, I've been there...years back. I was either very vain or very insulted. Not much inbetween. Gorgeous or gross. And it all depended on others reactions to me. The truth as I see it: you've madelife-changing changes. Can fit in the front seat of the roller coaster without having to be removed and sent down the "fat stairs". You can order at a drive thru without having to explain to the guy at the window that that whole two bags of food is for 10 of your friends. But self-esteem is something different, now that I finally have some. Losing weight and getting a date after a point, is no different than the doughnut days as the problem is centered in your mind. No matter how slim, rich, goodlooking, college degrees, women you get, you may keep feeling inferior. The key is to overcome the inferiority rather than looking for acceptance and endorsements from others. No matter how many compliments you receive, you will always have that one single critic which you will hear louder than all the other kind words. It becomes perfectionism...to keep you from ever feeling the way you felt before. One lick of criticism may mean to you that your still that old person.

You need to find what makes you think you have to be perfect in EVERYONES eyes, including your own. Get to the heart of that and you will begin to heal, rather than obsess over being perfect.
