In every culture, there are aggressive people, insecure people, clever people, etc. How they express themselves is down to their culture. An American might say something about ass-kicking or whup-ass or whatever. A Brit might say they're going to stripe you or brown you (if you don't know these terms, you're from a better background than I am). Both are massively more aggressive than the American equivalents.
The only reason you're offended by the American aggressiveness is because you understand it. Americans would be as offended by our aggressive behaviour if they understood our slang.
Equally, Brits don't understand other European slang. When a Dane says they are having the hot water, it may sound like they are taking a shower. What they're actually referring to is sex. The Danes even have a word for the way your hair gets messed up after sex.
