I know exactly the kind of people you’re talking about, the ones who live and breathe their kids and lose any semblance of personality. I find them insufferable too, the only time I’m interested to hear about someone’s child is when they are neuroatypical and my psych major brain switches on.
If it’s any consolation I don’t find babies or small children cute either, I just pretend so as to not offend their parents and I’ve managed to get a few others to confess they do the same.
