It sounds like you were overreacting, but it's normal to cry over silly things sometimes. Was there something else bothering you that day? Maybe that's just what set you off.
The problem with communicating with text is that you can't tell what the other person's tone is. That person might have meant it in a light hearted, joking sort of way. You don't know the person, so you don't know what sort of sense of humour they have, and you don't know if they were super irritated or just slightly annoyed.
Don't feel bad about it. I let things build up and don't react when I should, and then the littlest thing sets me off crying sometimes. Sometimes you just need a good cry.

That's exactly what happened, I'm sure of it. And you're right, I didn't know them, and yet I still let it get to me..
