Not to be a pessimist, but a lot of ex-soldiers I know feel like their service didn't help a great deal in 'making lives better', certainly for the people back home.
Perhaps sometimes a 'thank you' can seem odd, almost cruel, when the person being thanked feels like their main contribution was killing and having to watch people get blown to pieces.
Is it normal 2 BE IRRITATED WHEN PEOPLE THANK ME FOR SERVING?
