You are doing a service that will makes their lives better in ways you probably don't know. They are being thankful that you are there. I guess you want them to tell you to fuck off then. Didn't think so
Not to be a pessimist, but a lot of ex-soldiers I know feel like their service didn't help a great deal in 'making lives better', certainly for the people back home.
Perhaps sometimes a 'thank you' can seem odd, almost cruel, when the person being thanked feels like their main contribution was killing and having to watch people get blown to pieces.
Is it normal 2 BE IRRITATED WHEN PEOPLE THANK ME FOR SERVING?
