Is it normal : asexuality?

I've never met any other asexual person.

It leads to some awkward situations. Since I'm a teenage guy, my few friends are other teenage guys. They go off on a subject of conversation regarding sexual preference or bragging of sexual accomplishments (naming names, no less) and I'm just standing there awkwardly, not having anything to say. I'm often coaxed into attending an event, being told that it will be "totally awesome". Upon arrival, I find that the "awesomeness" is scantily clad young women, which my friends get a massive kick out of, meanwhile I wander off and get a soda or something.

There has been one occasion where I was approached and engaged in conversation by a girl approximately my own age, possibly a year or two older. (I was later informed that she was "sexy as s**t") As I broke off the conversation and left (I had to use the restroom) I was told that she was flirting with me. I had not noticed. In addition, my total lack of focus on her cleavage had evidently convinced her that I had forcibly rejected her, which she was not taking too calmly.

So, yeah. I've never met anyone else like this, but evidently it's common enough to have a name. Anyone else here asexual or know someone who is? Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

My best friend is asexual. She doesn't like sex at all. It grosses her out.

Being asexual sounds so much worse for a guy than for a girl. At least if a girl is asexual, people will respect her.

Yes, it is perfectly normal. I'm myself a proud asexual and what you've described matches very much to my situation. There were girls who thought that I might be a good sex partner, but I couldn't figure out what she wished from me. I too was speechless when my friends spoke and watched porn.
Visit the wiki link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asexuality and also google AVEN.

We need to increase more and more awareness regarding this aspect
