So I have wondered and thought to myself about the decline of the human race. Is anybody else tired of so many teens or kids that really obviously lack discipline.? The kids when I grew up in 70's born in 60, if we got out of line or mouthed off we got an ass whipping. These days this bullshit about calling police and DCFS to say they are being abused by parents. It seems to me its more cruel to send kids out into the world with no idea about consequences for their actions. They haven't had an ass beating for doing the fucked up shot some of them do. I think parents should be able to discipline their kids, I'm not saying beat them half to death. But they need to realize they can't go thru life doing "whatever they feel like doing". I walked in on parents when I was about 9 yrs old I walked in on the folks having sex, my dad beat my ass for not knocking on their door. Any body else feel that spankings should still be allowed to keep kids attitudes in check ?

    There is a difference between spanking and beating, imo ..
    I got the occasional slap when I was a kid and it taught me not to do that again ..
    I would try to explain what they've done wrong and not to do that again, but if they don't listen after a couple of warnings ..
    Although nowadays you could just switch the wifi off as a punishment, that'd do it xD

    Didn't Dr. Spocks son commit suicide? Spock was a huge force in not spanking children I think? Maybe he wasn't so smart after all? Maybe we can thank Spock for the Millennials crying and pissing their pants anytime someone speaks their mind on college campuses across the country?
    These people are gonna be running this country one day. In theory. Doctors, senators, law enforcement, lumberjacks??? What then? Safe spaces on every corner? Micro aggressions, white privilege. Avocado toast. Cis Gender.....I'll be honest, I don't even know what the hell that one means.
    It is my opinion that if you spare the rod, you just might get....A Millennial. God bless their hearts.

    Physical punishment isn't the only alternative to doing nothing and not teaching kids there are consequences to their actions. It's not only lazy but also a really good way to teach kids that it's ok for larger people to assault smaller people

      Presumably only when it's a large person inflicting it on a small person who is powerless? Great way to teach kids that violence is ok

        Well, I've been living with my relatives for 2 months, and they spank, but very rarely, and not hard. I will say that I was taught by my father that parents should never spank in anger. Unfortunately, I do think that a lot of people do spank their children when they are angry and they probably put too much force behind a spanking.

        I guess it would be fair to say I wasn't physically abused at least not by my dad. I do remember some kids at school telling me that if they cursed the way I did they would get a "whooping" which always kinda freaked me out, and sounded like abuse.
