I agree, I used to watch a lot of tv back in the 90's and it was all good. I mean I was younger but....it was good tv! There are some good shows out there now but I find that eventually their plots get weak and too far "out there." I don't like Heroes, I think the acting is poor so that's a deal breaker for me right from the start.
I like shows such as Lost, Dexter, Monk, True Blood because I think the dialogue and acting is excellent. And actually a lot of the USA shows are surprisingly good.
But yeah, tv is not as good as it used to be, agreed.
I hate to sound like a complete dork from this comment but the best written show of all time was...and I am sorry to say this.

Babylon 5. The show was written by one writer only and each "episode" flowed into the next. There would be several episodes leading up to an explosive episode and there was a season which they were up against an enemy that was way overpowered compared to them.
Rescue Rangers was awesome and there needs to be some channel with all the best shows from the 90's like Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Gargoyles, TMNT, Heathcliff...etc.
I'd be a happy lady. I agree, I want to buy all of these on dvd and just not let my kids watch new tv.
You don't have to. I hope I am not breaking protocol but since I do own the dvds (Well, my fiance does) I can legally download each of these.
To download them, look online for a program called BITCOMET and install it. Then find the torrents needed to download all of those here
http://torrentz.com/
But please don't do it unless you actually own the DVD's as I don't feel like having my ass handed to me over a technicality. I guess this is the part where I say Piracy is wrong as I truly am not a moron and know the laws.
Those are good. I kid you not though, I started downloading entire seasons of just a few of those yesterday. In a few days, I should have the entired series of Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, Duck Tales, Titus (The comedy show,) and 24 for my fiance's dad.
Shit, thanks for reminding me about Gargoyals, I completely forgot.
Fuck Comcast, I'm annoyed because they say I download too much and I just play online and let my neighbors play online as well. This is more due to me not having a TV and I own most of these series anyways.
It can't be just because we are getting older and miss our youth either. It's like they don't even try anymore. I remember great cartoons growing up and toys that go with them and now I don't see much of either.
It just feels that quality has been drained out of everything and we as society pretty much accepted it. I feel bad for our kids who won't know better. It saddens me that my future children won't know cartoons like "Rescue Rangers" or "Duck Tales" as I did growing up. On television, it seems that it is all Japanize animation which doesn't make much sense to watch and even less in writing skill to produce.
For instance, my fiance loves the show Yugioh for some god awful reason and I tried watching it with her. I honestly can't stand it and as a starting writer, I look at the writing and it goes no where. They describe this "twist" and without any logical thinking they add that "twist" over there. For a story to work there has to be a flow that most shows now days do not follow. Am I wrong on this.
Is it just me or has television or has television gotten more lame?
