As people age its common for their metabolism to change or for certain things to not work as well as they used to. Certain long term medical conditions also affect things.
I don't find it nearly as easy to stay in shape or loose weight as I did when I was in my 20's and early 30's.
Also, recovery and rehabilitation of minor injuries take a lot longer (I'm currently working with a L shoulder issue and have been in physical therapy for over 2 months - and expect another 2-3 months to get back to where it should be). When I was in my 20's - that would have been no more than a month or so to recover.
However, with all that being said. I'm 80 lb lighter than I was 12 years ago.
