Is it bad I don’t like getting drunk/high?

  • So because I chose not to drink that makes me a control freak.... Ha Ha Ha...

Just because I have self control does not make me a control freak.

"Control freaks are often perfectionists; and such persons manipulate and pressure others to change so as to avoid having to change themselves, and use power over others to escape an inner emptiness."

I have a full life (no inner emptiness in me) and have never objected to any friends or my wife from drinking; and my wife has several kinds of alcohol in the house. Never bothered me.

Nor do I try to control other people except in an emergency situation where immediate significant injury possibilities exist (which I believe has only come up twice in my life).

I do on occasion make suggestions, and the people can follow or not as they see fit.

    • True self control would be if one could drink and then stop.

Avoiding something all together is more akin to a fear response.

      • It's called wisdom, not fear.

A wise person does not intentionally get themselves into dangerous and negative situations that they know they may not be able to handle, if there are other alternatives.

A wise person can learn from other's mistakes and apply them to their own life.

        Fools don't do that.

Now we are all somewhat foolish in life - and the sooner we recognize that the sooner we start becoming more wise. In my case I had to become more wise than was normal at a very young age as I was buying all my own cloths by age 14, and I started buying some of them at age 12. I mowed lawns, shoveled snow, painted, and all kinds of other household jobs.

Because of that wisdom, and learning to appropriately judge risks, I have literally stood on top of mountains that most people would never attempt and also was an Official or Judge at 2 World Championships and 1 Olympics in the sport I was involved in.

I also happen to know many people where their entire family do not drink alcohol, and a number of world level athletes. Not drinking alcohol is more common than you think.

You don't need alcohol or drugs to succeed. You do need self control.
