It was sarcastic, yes. And a bit snappy, despite me agreeing with some of your original points. I'm going to apologise. I actually started typing a long reply to you and deleted it because nobody seems to read long replies.
What I was initially going to post is that people are selfish. We're selfish when we're young and think everything is about us. We're selfish when we're middle-aged and we both pass judgement on the young, and farm our old off into homes. And we're selfish when we're old and become conservative and resistant to change because we want the world the way we want it and don't think anyone else should have a say.
It crossed my mind that you were being selfish too but, in retrospect, this seems a bit harsh. However, what caused me to post what I posted was that you labelled a group of people as prejudice. There may be prejudice amongst them and you may not like it (neither do I, for the record), but I think you and I should dislike the prejudiced (regardless of their age) rather than judge a group of people who, admittedly, may be more prejudiced as a body, but aren't necessarily as an individual. You kind of hinted at this in your reply to me. I don't think our views are actually that different. So, yeah, I do apologise for the snappy response.
Is it acceptable to not be fond of the elderly?
