It's certainly understandable. Most elderly people are closed-minded, but then again it seems that people in general are.
I think it's best not to assume too much what someone is going to be like based on their age. Some old people are miserable, angry or boring fucks - and some are insightful and wise. I treat old people the same as anyone else.
Noam Chomksy and George Carlin are two of my favourite old people.
