  • Hey there. It's totally normal that you didn't have one. You also have a good head on your shoulders. It is as you said kinda stupid do do so much for a certain birthday number IMO as well. People can pay college tuition or put down payments on houses for the amount they spend on sweet sixteens and weddings and other like events. Some even go into 25k -100k or more debt over such parties. To me that's insane to do over one day that goes by in a flash, when you could be paying for college, buying a house or just saving some money for a rainy day and to go into debt over it oh my god. It sounds like you have very practical values!

Just a side note: I did my wedding on the cheap. We did it in a friends huge backyard with a tent in case of rain, I bought a reasonable dress, hired only a semi-professional photographer, a dj and a very reasonable restaurant to cater/deliver. We paid a very low price. What matter is your life being happy not a big party like a sweet sixteen. In our case what matters is we have a great marriage that's lasted. Some people have big weddings and are divorced in a year or two. What matters is not some party, but how you live your life :)! You're a smart cookie!
