Is having documents about the people i know normal?

Some time ago I created a document about a girl I wanted to charm to have all the required information in plain sight, avoiding to stress my memory.
It worked just fine, and after a while I did it with another one;
And after a couple of months, with another one.
These documents are incredibly useful, and I am considering to create a document about every single person I know.
I am sure that I am not the only one doing this, so I wanted to ask: is it normal?

    Sounds convenient, yet creepy.

That sounds like something I'd do (ie. No, it's not normal at all!)

It's not normal but it sounds like a very useful idea.

Just make sure that no one ever finds them - it probably won't go down well.

Creepy but acceptable and kind of useful. I should do this.

Not normal but as long it's not harming them who cares? Sounds a bit autistic though.

Bit creepy and potentially dangerous, though.

I found it kinda cute but I understand it’s probably weird to most people. Depends what kinda info but I figured he meant like her interests and that sort of thing so he doesn’t forget. if he is actually autistic it make some sense

Yeah but you find everything cute.

      • Why dangerous?

Obsessive people can become quite dangerous.

I'm not saying you are or will. I don't know you.

          But it's creepy, nonetheless.

          • It doesn't sound dangerous or obsessive at all to me. Most people do something like this in their heads.

For example, if you're looking to take someone out to dinner, see a movie, or buy them a gift, you might think back to previous conversations to figure out what they might like.

OP is just avoiding to stress his memory, and documented things that everyone tries to remember anyway.

I don’t know if it’s normal but I do the same. It’s very useful and help me to deal with the others.

It's unusual and not all that normal , but ya I think it largely depends on what kind of information you're keeping that determines the level of creepiness. and also where you get the information.. if it's been told to you by them or you virtually or physically stock them.

Try getting like hobbies.. too much time on a person's hands can be bad

    • I have many commitments and many hobbies; I am not doing this to kill the time, I am doing it because it is useful.

Lol it would suck if they somehow got a hold of that document. I wonder how they’d react xD

    • I read to one of them part of her file :-) She was kinda thrilled that I took the time to collect information on her and to write down a 100% correct psychological analysis and asked me to give her a copy; I refused though, that stuff is for my use only and I don't want evidence of it around (besides, in that document there were also some things that I didn't want her to see).

Sincerely I do not know if it is normal. I've never done this and I've never heard about people doing it except in films with serial killers or people who are mentally ill. But then, maybe there are people doing it out there and not telling anyone.

Sales people do that with their clients and contacts so that they can help build a relationship with these folks. For a personal relationship, it might seem creepy. Maybe just try to commit everything you learn on them to your memory.

    • There's no point in trying to force it all into faulty human memory when you have computer memory.

From the other person's perspective, OP likely just seems thoughtful, which he is.

Sounds like what law enforcement does when they're investigating a criminal organization. What happens when friends come over and see your giant flowchart with pictures, interests, family members, and known associates all connected with threads and pushpins to a smiling, double thumbs upping picture of you in the center? I'm pretty sure that will be the end of all your friendships.

    • That's why I keep it all in my computer :^)
But the flowchart idea is interesting, I may implement it, thanks!

  • It's smart, and normal enough, though most people probs don't do this. It's almost like playing real life dating like a dating simulator.

A while ago, I asked someone what kind of games they like.

I documented some key parts of their answer, so that I'd know what features to look for in a game if I got one for their birthday.

It was months ahead of time.

Well, he was a cross-dresser, not a drag queen. I don't want to insult drag queens. I love me some big ole drag queens, their performances are always so uplifting!

  • I write down a lot of stuff I need to remember for example if I don’t do something or somehow fuck up at work I write it in my notes what I need to do next time to better myself. But never on somebody I’d feel weird to do that it seems kinda creepy. Like if I found someone with documents on me I'd be like uhh the fuck? But I do get what you’re saying because I forget a lot and it’s nice to remember things about people if they bring a subject up you forgot you’d then have it written down already to glance at and what not but it’s not really my thing.

Sounds creepy when you say you're going to keep a file on every friend. That said, I've done this when I was on Match.com and interacting with several women at a time. I needed to jot things down to keep things straight person by person. People like it when you remember important things about them. Keeping a file on them? I don't know. heheh

Right on! I actually wanted to look at Match for about five minutes there, but it made me register. Ugh, the damn thing tricked me. Now I have to figure out how to delete my account. 🤔

I actually had a pretty good experience. Most of the women I talk to say the same. Of course, there will always be a couple chuckleheads to avoid.

I dunno, see I just wanted to look out of curiosity. I don't think I'm really ready to date.
