Is getting older all that great?

  • I'm only 25, but for me it has gotten a lot better. I actually enjoy having responsibilities, and I enjoy the privileges that come with them, as well as the freedom adulthood brings.

There are always going to be negative aspects to any part of your life, but I feel that as an adult, I have much more control over my life than I did when I was younger, and therefore life and adulthood are mostly what I make them. Of course there are limitations, but gratitude allows me to be happy with what I have and to make the best of it.

I've also talked to many people ages 50+ who have told me that the best times of their lives so far have been in their 40's and 50's, and their least favorite were teens and 20's. These are all well-rounded, successful people, too.

I also feel that the older I get, the more secure and confident in myself I am, and the less I care about what others think. To me, that's very liberating. I spent way too many years afraid to fully live my life because of what others might think!
