Cybersex happens all the time, with people from all different places across the globe.
Wanting a long-term relationship doesn't make having a short term relationship or even one night encounter, wrong. As long as you really aren't breaking your own moral and ethical code, I wouldn't worry about it and just enjoy your time. If you are breaking your own moral code, perhaps its time to reexamine that code and your behaviors and find some reasonable compromise.
But as for living too far apart to having a relationship with someone, I met my husband when we were kids, talking to him online - we lived 3 hours apart. Another friend of mine met her future and now husband online when she was living in Britain and he was in the States. Long distance relationships are great ways to start long term relationships because you spend a lot of time getting used to communicating with each other, less time basing your attraction on sex. It also means you combat matters of infidelity way early on (you'll either cheat when you're dating or you won't... if you're the type who won't ever, you'll have no troubles surviving anything else your relationship could go through when you're up close).
