I did smoke crack for about half a year. I ended up basically homeless and jobless and not so much because I spent everything on crack or craved it so much, but because it made me just not give a shit about anything; I had no interest in anything.
I am just like you—"non addictive personality." I had no trouble quitting snorting cocaine or smoking cigarettes. And I never wanted to try crack, but I tried it by mistake (long story). After 10 minutes, the high wore off, and I went out and smoked again. So yeah, it's pretty addictive, just one puff and you're hooked.
You said you wanted to try the experience, but there's barely anything to it. I'd say it's a lot like being really drunk, but without the slurred speech and loss of motory functions. The high lasts 5 to 15 minutes, however. You just feel pumped and confident, you forget about world troubles and focus on the job at hand, but that feeling quickly slides into dread and anxiety. A few times I smoked really big rocks, and during the first 10-20 *seconds* it felt a lot like the way you feel when you're about to cum. Most people also get extremely paranoid. One person who smoked it with me once stopped by just to grab a few cigarettes, but it took him half an hour to exit the house, because he was switching between peeking out of windows and smoking more crack, because the high already wore off.
The way I quit smoking it is I was forced to move back with my parents. And even when I 100% knew there would be no crack lying around my parents' house, I still frequently would stoop and pick up a piece of plaster or lint on the floor, thinking it might be a piece of crack I could smoke. These kinds of dumb things and pangs (sort of a physical tightness in the chest) lasted for awhile. Then, about half a year after I quit, I got a pang and a crazy idea to travel to another city, to a guy I knew who sold crack and try to spend my last money to buy some crack. A few minutes later, the pang subsided, but if I had easy access to crack, I'd probably would have smoked it again and get hooked again. I also had frequent dreams about finding a huge rock of crack and smoking it for about 2 years after I quit, and it's only when I once had a dream with crack in it and I decided not to smoke it that I realized I quit it for good.
Once, I took about 9 ecstasy pills in one day and by night, I felt like acid was running through my veins and all my friends and all I knew had died. I recall wondering whether coming off crack was worse than that. Well, the next time I smoked crack, I decided the feeling was quite similar. You also can't fall asleep for quite a while after you smoke crack, which makes it worse, because you can't just sleep off the dread feeling. Also, if you ever look at the amount of resin that can be scraped from crack pipes and cans, it just scares me to think what your lungs look like after smoking; it's like coating them with a film of plastic. No wonder the crazy coughs set in!
So, in summation, don't do it. ***Even if you won't get addicted, the experience just isn't worth the money*** It's too short and the entire reason crack sells is because it's addictive, not because the experience is good.
Smoke weed instead :) Do some ecstasy, if you're looking for something more heavy. But shrooms are the best, I think :)
Is crack really wacked?

Don't do it, man.
