"Losing popularity" in what sense exactly?
As in fewer people treat it as a huge religious thing? (BTW, the Puritans actually banned the celebration of Christmas since they saw it as a pagan holiday.)
As in people aren't putting up so many decorations? Not what I've observed.
As in people are spending less on buying crap? Maybe, but if so, that's probably mainly about how much people can afford to spend, possibly combined with the fact that more people are finally recognising that Christmas is a huge commercial scam.
As in people are pigging out less on the day itself? Dunno about that, but maybe; if so, it's probably mainly about changes in people's eating habits.
As in people are treating the 25th of December as just another work day? I think that's probably not supported by real statistics either. (Another BTW: Within living memory, Christmas was pretty much treated as just another day in Scotland. The country went a bit bonkers on New Year's Eve, though.)
