Is being a misanthrope normal?

A misanthrope is a person who hates humanity. Some cases are mild, such as they don't like to be around people, but may tolerate family members. Some cases are extreme, where they want to stay on a deserted island forever, away from everyone. I am not sure if these are from childhood experiences or a disorder. Is this a normal thing?

  • It's actually part of Erikson's psychosocial development, a general trust or mistrust of the world around you

I'm generally not wholly trusting, but I like to let things play out until I have reasons not to engage, like I don't feel like it's safe

A recurring thought is the best way to win is not to play

I voted yes because I am one. I genuinely don't like the human race, having seen and experienced what it is capable of.

Normal, most people just pretend to like each other for work/friendships/appearances though, you should maybe try to do that
