Is a 6pm to 1am sleep schedule normal?

Hello, I'm currently in the 11th grade and my sleep cycle for the past year and a half consisted of coming home around 4pm, eating lunch, and then sleeping at 6pm. I then wake up at around 1am (7 hours) and then stay up for the rest of the day, do my homework, and eat whatever my family had for dinner, (which most of the time is cold at that point as it is in the refrigerator, but I don't mind). Is this schedule normal? Should I change it? I mean, I think it works for me since I can do my homework more diligently with the quiet that accompanies the hours of dawn, but I feel like an outcast, and my parents don't see it as healthy.

You're getting the sleep you need, in that you function well when you're awake, so it can't be unhealthy.

Many people a quarter of the way around the globe from where you live are sleeping and waking at the same time you are, so it's not like humans need to sleep according to some universal schedule.

The hours you've chosen as down-time will limit your social life severely, but that's not so important to some people at some stages in their lives. If you come to feel too disconnected from friends, you can change your schedule so you go to bed and get up a little later. There's not much difference in the quiet of 1:00 AM and that of 3:00 AM.

I do find it a little ironic that your parents are unhappy about your schedule. Most parents of teens complain about their kids staying up too late and being impossible to get out of bed in the morning.

Just tell your parents its normal to work a night job that the odds of getting into trouble with other high school students is less if you dont get the opportunity. so how are those grades ? are you at the top of your class?

    • Argh, I'm on a normal schedule now and I hate it, it's like once you sleep one normal day, you're out of your own loops. But my grades are at the top of my class bordering on a 3.9-4.0

absolutely normal and optimal as the internet connection is 10 times faster at night, the porn access is typically less regulated as to what is porn, your brothers and sisters mom and dad wont bother you , its like you have your own place. I'm surprised you asked.

When I was in eleventh grade I slept from 2/3am to 7am which is more normal for high schoolers.Nobody I knew would even admit to sleeping that early.

Your parents want to actually see you. Try staying up later and spending some time with them.
