  • I think you're tipping fairly coz I used to work in a bar too. I go to the same pub every weekend and I always tip the bar staff with my change.

If it's one of their birthdays or I haven't seen a particular member of staff for a while, I will say, "Get yourself a drink!" Then they can take the value of whatever they drink. I have never checked how much any of them have ever taken.

When I worked in a bar an extremely rich man made a whole exhibition in front of his friends by putting a tip into my hand. It was 10 cents!! I threw back my head and started to laugh! Then proceded to throw it in the charity tin when his mates were watching me!! Ignorant b@stard!!

    • OMG, one time the bar I worked at held a large function in the banquet hall. One of the attendees was a local doctor. SO I KNOW he has money, he has to....he orders 2 double shots of Tangueray gin. He gives me $10 for it as if that should cover it and actually thought he was going to get change. The cost of the drinks should've been about $16. I was just stunned....I just gave him the drinks for the $10 and didn't say anything.....it was so busy that day due to the function, I didn't have a second to spare so I let it go. It kinda sucked because I was the only bartender when they had functions, so I'd be unbelievably busy!! But I liked it, usually made good tips but it was hard work!! VERY hard!!
