Is 5 inches short?
I’m insecure about it, but I measure at 5’ soft and closer to 7’ hard. Am I short?
It could be my genres. I’m 5’7 and mostly of Russian heritage.

It's not hard to find supposedly accurate statistics on national average penis lengths, and you're right: Russia is not at the top of the list. But averages are averages, and there will always be outliers. If you're being honest about your measurements, then it seems you are in one of the high percentile ranks.
Soft length means nothing - unless it's important for you to make guys in the gym locker room feel inadequate. Some guys are "showers" and some "growers". I'm not much shorter than you when erect, but when I'm not, I'm about two inches.
And, as others have said, having a healthy-sized dick is no guarantee that you're going to be good when having sex with whatever gender you prefer to do that with. In fact, it's not unknown for guys who have big dicks to be crap lovers because they think that size is all that matters. It isn't, not by a long stretch.
And, finally, as Ellenna points out, girth is important too. For a woman to enjoy penis in vagina sex, there needs to be some friction. A fifteen inch dick with the diameter of a pencil ain't going to achieve much (other than embarrassed laughter). A five inch dick with a decent girth that's attached to a guy who knows what he's doing with it can do wonderful things for a woman.

Catching 'em by surprise is always good.
Seriously, we all have what we have, and there's no point getting bent out of shape about it, but being a grower does have a subtle benefit.
Some women just don't like penises for one reason or another. However, if a woman does like penises in general, something they can particularly enjoy is seeing how they have a definite effect on a guy. If a woman getting naked makes a guy's dick grow from a tiny little nub to something substantial, that's an ego boost for her.

Yours is awesome to me. Be proud, besides, nothing you can do about it. If someone else does not like the size its their problem. Im 5" hard. It used to bother me, but it is what it is. I still get it up quite easily (sometimes for no resdon at all), and i can still get multiple nuts.
