Bubble gum, and those lollipops with gum in the middle are my favorites.

American Smarties, not the choc Aussie ones.

I also like those Dip Stick things, just the stick part, not the powder.

I hate it all. We have bastardized chocolate and chemically fucked up sugar to the point that our bodies have become so confused. I love Halloween, making tombstones later, but the candy is by far the worst aspect of the tradition. But enjoy your diabetes and fake teeth, if you are lucky enough to have dental care.

I'm from Bulgaria and am a 90s kid... Back then Halloween wasn't a thing. Now kids do the whole halloween thing and they mostly get chocolate, licorice, m & m, Kinder eggs and other stuff like that.

Tho if I was a kid now and had to trick or treat... I'd enjoy plain chocolate the most. Never liked sweets that are literally just colored sugar.

I've never had candy corn. The smell of the whole aisle of it at Ingles made me want to puke.

    Kitkats are pretty good.

Cherry Ripe and Almond Snickers are the superior crappy chocolates. But USA doesn't have the former and Aus doesn't have the latter :(

I love it, but I buy the Brachs candy corn. They have vanilla and butter flavoring in them. Makes them so much better.

Vanilla is hard to fuck up, I have to say...

I still think I'll pass, though. What flavour are the regular meant to have? Other than sadness and regret, I mean.

Third attempt at actually replying to THIS comment...motherfucking IIN bullshit site...fuck...

Hershey's is sadly lacking if you compare it to other chocolate from other countries.

Except for that one with the almond and toffee. That's good shit.

I honestly love Godiva, but it's not like they give out the fancy stuff at Halloween. I do really love chocolate!

          That's a fair point.

Cadbury is pretty shit by my standards, but still better than Hershey's. Less waxy.

Hey now, there may be other chocolates that are technically finer than Hershey but I still like the taste and texture.

I like Ghirardelli chocolate as well.

I was always glad to find someone who liked the candy corn. I'd trade all my candy corn for just about anything else chocolate they had. I don't know......just didn't like candy corn.

I'm a Reeses addict, but one thing on your list which you can't easily get in the UK is candy corn.

Amazon sells it, but I'm not willing to pay the equivalent of $7.80 for an 11 oz bag just for the sake of a little childhood-Halloween nostalgia.

      • Boojum

Yeah, I know it's disgusting, and I'm sure I couldn't eat much of it these days before feeling queasy, but still...

I remember assuming when I was a kid that the coating was some sort of wax, but I just looked up the actual ingredients. If you think candy corn is revolting already, you'll probably be amused to learn that the shiny coating is lac-resin: the refined secretions of Asian lac beetles. So vegetarians can't eat candy corn.

There are four categories of halloween treats.

Coming in number one is chocolate bars.

At number two is stuff that may or may not be chocolate but very tasty, like smarties, tootsie rolls, or candy apples.

Number three is edible stuff that is "last resort" like gum, bottle caps, milk duds,

Number four is stuff that pretty much just sucks like orange or black taffy, candy corn, healthy snacks...

Licorice seems to be either number one or number four, depending on who you ask. People love it or hate it.

Me - I hate licorice, it tastes like candy coated plastic.
Candy corn is second worst, and FIRST worst is those taffy pieces.

OH and then there are those nasty horrid circus peanuts! Oh my gyod i would eat brussel sprouts before those icky things.
