Inn that i think it is inhumane

I think its kinda inhumane that operations cost! Sure if it isnt such a worry but if your life depends on it and you dont have the money, you will die! I think it is inhumane to dont let a person with e.g cancer get his operation because he dont have the money. It is almost like a life costs.

I do believe that healthcare should not be a luxury. And yes it is unhumane.

It comes down to whether the people of a country want to be taxed to the extent that operations can be free by way of government subsidies to medical professionals. In the absence of those subsidies, it’s unfair to expect a person doing a job to provide their goods or services for free. Doctors are people too, and have a right to earn a living. Just like people are typically required to pay for the food they need to stay alive. We don’t expect a butcher to be required to give away their meat, or a baker to give away their breads.

I live in the USA, so anything I say is only going to be valid for where I live.

Here in the US only private medical centers can refuse to treat patients, but only when it is something that isn't an emergency. In the case of an emergency they have to perform life saving measures, after that they can continue to treat the patient or refer them somewhere else such as a public medical center to continue treatment. If someone is unable to pay medical bills for a private medical center sometimes the medical center may offer treatment at a lower cost or waive it entirely.

All that is just private medical centers. Public medical centers are obligated to treat pretty much everyone.

I was being facetious. An operation is going to cost money no matter what. People who want free operations are basically just saying they want YOU to pay for it.

Obviously the doctors and medical staff have to be paid. Someone has to buy the tools, pay for the electricity, pay for the land, the building on and on

I mean how bloody stupid does one have to be, to think something like that could possibly be free??

I think everyone wants socialized medicine these days, but I'm pretty sure the standard of care would go down.

Pretty sure OP they said it's inhumane that it Costs ie it should be free. That's not socialized medicine.

I think there are a few religious sects that have free health care. They leave it up to God.

Regardless I must not be manic anymore because I'm ending my involvement in this head desk discussion. YAY ME!!

I can't work out how to directly link the answer I wanted to highlight. Written by Kevin Dolgin. It's a long read, but very informative.

It amazes and saddens me how twisted the American view of "socialised healthcare" is.
