  • I see nothing inherently wrong with the existence of wealthy people. As long as they got to what they did fairly, by being ethical businessmen and businesswomen. Not if they are making large profits by screwing people over.

First off, all workers need to be paid a wage that they can support themselves on. Yes, minimum wages and entry level wages have been raised in some places to be high enough that it's enough to live off of.

But this is not the case in all areas of the country. That's an obvious problem to me. Billionaires/millionaires who are running companies should not be allowed to pay their workers wages that they cannot live off of.

Also, the billionaires/millionaires need to always pay their fair share of taxes. And those tax dollars need to be spent properly and be directed at ensuring an adequate social safety net for all citizens (e.g. people who are homeless, lack private health insurance, job programs for people who are unemployed, etc.) along with covering basic governmental functions, such as emergency services and the courts.

If the rich are able to pay their workers fair/living wages and pay their fair share of properly spent taxes while remaining rich, then I see no problem with the amount of money they have. As long as everyone has the resources that they need and the rich are not taking away financial resources that other people need, I have no issue with rich people.

It's greed that's the problem to me. But I agree, if someone is wealthy through being an ethical business owner or investor, I have absolutely no problem with them. In fact, the world needs highly successful people.

    P.S.

And yes, if someone is taking advantage of government services and REFUSING to find employment then they should not continue to be given government benefits. Assuming one is not mentally or physically disabled, they should contribute to society by being employed.
