Like I was saying: it's unconstitutional. In a country where the people are supposed to be able to make their own militias, mob justice and vigilantism are illegal.
It's a no-win. Defending yourself or just being prepared to by carrying a knife or pipe for protection is vigilantism which is illegal, the only way to legally be safe is to call people who aren't legally required to help you. No way to win if youre out on the street and some dude wants to run your pockets and kick the shit out of you.
If you want to fix the problem just put in a vote for people who talk polarizing arguments. Still doesn't help when you get jumped or worse and the cops are harassing you for walking down the street at 2am, wasting public funds for nothing. But some people like to believe that calling emergency numbers is guaranteed safety. My life experience tells me that's not how it works.
