You have an upper middle class income with loads of frequent flier miles from your international business trips. But for minimum wage types, Hollywood creates its own ambiance with the movie and recording industry. San Francisco's gay population advertises tolerance of life style, and welfare benefits are generous. California's state GDP is huge thanks to Silicon Valley, and the Aerospace industry in LA. If you have a dream but you don't have a plan, go to California. Wait on tables, or pump gas while you figure it out.
Those days of California are way over. California is one of the most expensive places to live and visit in the US, the world for that matter. Free stuff, like being on welfare on the streets of SF (housing is unaffordable), isn’t my idea of a good way to live a dream. Texas, especially Austin, seems to be one of the new great places to go for young people to get a start. But, we’ve veered off topic..............
