Don't be upset.
I'm 18. I was in love (or at least thought that I was) from my freshman year through my junior year in high school. Me and the girl had a great rapport - everything was perfect. And then when we were on Christmas break she went MIA. I showed up to school the first day back with a huge pink and baby blue box (her Christmas gift), complete with a card, a note, and her favorite items from Bath and Body Works - $85! Lol, it might seem like a lot, but I truly cared for her. She didn't show up that whole week and I thought that she was sick. It turns out she changed schools, changed phone numbers, and changed addresses. It took me almost half a year to reconnect with her - and although we keep in contact over Facebook, she pretty much dropped everyone she used to know and moved on.
In a nutshell, everything that glitters isn't gold. There are plenty of fish in the sea and even more in the ocean. & besides, we're still young (;
