Outside of the snark, I think something about the TV you are watching is confusing you that pretty people go together and intelligent people go together and it's impossible to be both because, then, who would you go with? Also, that it's impossible to cross that human-defined boundary.
In short, date who you like and forget what anyone else says you should think about them.
