To get over lying, take things one step at a time. I used to have the same problem.
Start by learning to be quiet in conversations, whether what you have to say is true or false, and think three times before you say anything. Try not to talk about yourself much, or anything else you might usually lie about.
Let old lies die. Sometimes the bigger ones actually become a part of you. You've got to accept that they're not true and let them go.
There will be better and worse days. It can be hard to tell people the truth, especially when you're already a liar. You've got to accept it, and take a mature approach on it. If you do that, then when you come round to tell someone 'wait, sorry, that was a lie. I do it compulsively sometimes,' they're much more likely to trust you and take you seriously.
