  • Although its not really considered 'normal' in the gyneacological world, it happens a lot, and sometimes for no reason. Your two female hormone, estrogen and progesterone, are responsible for your menstrual period and depending on the level of each individual woman's hormones, your period will either be regular (if you're lucky) or super irregular. Its normal for hormones to change and when the balance in hormones change, your period can come late, early, or not at all. I see someone mentioned asking a doctor for progesterone. While it is true progesterone medicationdoes sometimes help with 'forcing a period', its a one time solution and will not regulate your period forever and it won't help with the pain either. Why don't you instead, ask your doctor or gyneacologist for the combined pill? Although it inhibits ovulation so periods don't even ever occur, the pill was designed to include 7 placebos in each pack of pills that trigger withdrawal bleeding, and most women who don't know how birth control works call this a period. If you want to have a 'period' and being late bothers you, you canask for the combined pill. PS, the pill helps A LOT with the pain, too. It reduces the production of the chemical that promotes uterine contractions which is what causes the pain.
