I believe they should get the opportunity to come over how many lower class white people came over for hundreds of years to the USA. If they do not qualify for legal citizenship they could enter an indentured servitude program. To where they worked free labor for 2.5 years and they get full citizenship and rights. We could use them to manufacture products cheaply, have them build new traintracks and highways. They could help rebuild our infrastructure while receiving job skills to enter the workforce with skills once citizens. It sounds harsh but if you think about it it really does benefit both parties. And I bet a lot of people from these poor countries would jump at the opportunity to join the program.

    On the one hand illegals are potential criminals already flouting the law or simply economic migrants - in which case I say no.

    On the other their illegal status is potentially driven by desperation to escape the threat of persecution - so case by case basis.

      Escaping persecution can and should stop at first country they get to. The threat is no longer an excuse to go anywhere else.
      That would also give boarding countries an interest in addressing human rights and treatment by their neighbors. If the refugee goes somewhere else it never effect or gets addressed by the neighbors.

    I say no to 2nd class citizens. You are either a citizen or you are not a citizen. There is already a legal process to become a citizen and those who try to skip the line need to be prosticuted.

    I'm for granting citizenship for dreamers with a clean record.

    Hell I am even for declaring war on the cartels, wipe them all out.

      Im not saying they be 2nd class citizens. Im saying they can become citizens through work programs to where they actually benefit the USA at the same time. This wouldnt be for everyone just a certain amount of people that want to skip the line that do not qualify and if they are captured they are either jailed and deported or allowed into the program.

      The reason I say this is people constantly say "There's noway we can keep them out unless we stop the incentives" but I'm saying there is a way to create an incentive for them not to come illegally. If they had to enter a 2.5 year work program a lot of them would not come. You should also raise the penalties for hiring them but it doesnt do good if they start their own businesses.

        It sounds like you have a problem in the US with minors. I'm not sure the rest of the countries having immigration issues have as big of a problem with minors or citizenship.

        We have illegal immigrants but we don't give out citizenship easily nor do we allow a whole or extended family to legally come because one person in the family made it, legally or illegally.
        We also don't give them all the social benefits and priority over current citizens. We don't hire special teachers to teach in their language.
        IF you are allowed to immigrate and stay then you're expected to assimilate.
        Unfortunately the US has led the way once again and we have small pockets of immigrants segregating into their own little communities and expecting the government to give in to their ways, laws and customs.
        Sorry but if you don't like our ways and customs then go back to your country if it was so great !

        That is an interesting way to do things but it acts like prison labor since you are holding their own freedom over their heads.

        I imagine this functions like parole, do a crime and boom you out. But this just creates a clusterfuck and incentive for people to have anchor children and break their parole, which people already do. It's not just border crossings its people who were allowed to visit or work here but that expired and now they are breaking our sovereign laws by staying.

        It's a novel idea but wont work with governmental processes. It's too at risk for mass failure.

    So in other words, if the illegal alien can't pass the test for citizenship then you offer slavery as an alternative. Ask the blacks how that worked out for them.

    I disagree with a form of indentured servitude as a pathway to citizenship.

    There are legal ways to become a citizen, even for some (not all) of the people who did not enter the country legally if they can legitimately claim persecution or political refuge status.

    My wife is an immigrant and we did everything legally.

    I support creation of a mechanism for people who were brought into this country by their parents as children as long as their is not anything more than minor civil offenses (traffic tickets, etc). The Dreamers fall into this group.

    However, for others - I support returning them to their own country, or another of their choice if the other country will accept them.

    We do have to sort out those who were adults, not really fleeing persecution, or committed major crimes.

      Running away from being poor is not enough of a reason to let people in. America is in a higher postion in the world than what it was in the 18th century, we have a sustaining population. We can raise the bar a bit when it comes to foreigners.

        People have no balls anymore in USA we are too "in touch with our feminine side". We could stop illegal immigration tomorrow. It would be so easy to do. But everything in USA has to go through the whos feelings would that hurt system before being approved. If someone pulls on your heart strings enough Americans just let them do whatever. "We cant stop the looters they're really upset!" "We cant stop the illegals theyre really poor!" We could stop both tomorrow.

          No one needs a feminine side but women, and 4 them its the only side they need. Its 2 help them put up with more bullshit than a man would from the kids and 2 make them sexually compliant so we can have lots of kids. All nature
