Is it normal when in the supermarket..

... to still like looking at the kids' toys even as an adult? I still hanker after toys. Especially plushies and squishies. I only ever buy plushies though.

In recent years I have just pretended I've got a kid to hide my embarrassment.

Is this normal?

“An adult is just a child with layers on.”

I don’t have any child relatives but still wonder the toy sections of department stores sometimes just to see what they come up with.

It's fine to still like toys as an adult. My boyfriend has over 400 Pokemon plushes and his collection is still increasing.

My eyes opened wide when I read that! I'm not really sure what it means. But it was just the eyes, the rest of my face kept resting. Lol

Some of those toys he has that he paid a small amount for a few years ago are like more than double the price on ebay now. XD

Yeah when I walk past the kiddie section I can't help but to grab the cool nurf guns or water pistols on the racks.

Ribbit is actually a rabbit haha. That name came about cause I was drunk in bed and my boyfriend started towering over me and me feeling playful grabbed them and started going ribbit like as in talking for them. Ever since that's there name.

Admittedly I dont have any frogs haha I need to fix that. I got a llama though! Her name is Penelope.

It's okay to be in touch with your inner child. I see adults as children with more rules and years under their belt. While society judges those that're different, that absolutely doesn't mean you shouldn't be different. Live by what makes you happy (so long as it harms no one). Everyone has a flaw, guilty pleasure, value or trait they're embarrassed about to some degree. You needn't feel wrong for it

I dunno? I have some vague memories of the toy isle of the Eagle supermarket in the late seventies. I always thought that the toys in that toy isle were cheap, and crappy. I preferred the ToysRUs, of course those are now no more.

I have heard that Target has a good toy department.

It depends on the Target location. A regular Target and a Super Target usually has a good selection, but the small format locations usually have a bare bones selection of toys.
      :)

That's a good point. I really do love Target even though I got fired from the overnight stocking shift, because of chronic lateness, and calling in sick quite a bit. I just love Target, and I probably always will!

I love Target, and I love Macy's! I didn't think there was anything so unusual about it, but then my moronic ex-boyfriend had to tell me some stupid shit about how his ex loves Target, and Macy's. Some men say the stupidest things, when he said it I thought to myself, "I don't recall askin about her tired ass".

        Anyway, Target is wonderful.

Yeah, some people need to know when to close their mouths. Only an idiot would yap about how they're not over their ex to their current significant other.

The Macys in my area is shutting its doors and will start their store closing sales soon. It's kind of sad to see it go, but I'm probably gonna pounce on those discounts. There were two others in separate towns that did the same before they closed down. Idk, seeing good stores close is kind of difficult.

Yeah, a lot a people are switching to ordering stuff online. The Sears here closed, and now the Dover just has Macy's, JCPenney, and Boscov's as the really big stores. I shudder to think of Macy's closing, and what I really hated was to see was all of those Toys R Us stores go... all those memories of my childhood.😢

One especially clear memory was of my crazy, Colombian mom buying my sister, and I the Barbie dream house in the early 80s. I had seen two models of the dream house out at Toys R Us, one without furniture, and one for twice as much with furniture. I think we probably asked about the dream house, but it seemed expensive, and out of reach... like something to dream about getting for Christmas. Well, my sister, and I often improvised with what little furniture we had so we had commandeered the bench for the organ as a an imaginary Barbie Condo. One morning as if by divine intervention my mom just woke up, decided that she tired of seeing us mess up the living room, went down to Toys R Us and bought the Barbie dream house complete with all the furniture with seemingly no warning. As it turns out she wanted to get the organ bench back. 🤔

Our Barbie dream house was set up in living room, but it was just my sister, and I, because my mom didn't trust neighborhood kids, she always wanted my sister, and I to be best friends even though we fought all the time.

That's a lovely memory. I remember Toys R Us being THE place to get all the latest dolls and accessories. That place was so magical as a kid.

The Toys R Us name was bought by a different company and they opened a new Toys R Us in a mall in Jersey. I've never been to it, but I wanna see it.

Since more and more people aren't going out anymore abd doing everything online, it makes me wonder if the adults of the future will be mostly socially awkward.
