Is it normal when i look in the mirror i think i'm cute but camera disagree?

I mean, we've all been there haven't we?

We get dressed, looking nice, feeling confident that you look your best - THEN once you think "Oh, let me take a picture & share it" the camera is like 'LOL SIKE, bitch.' MOST ANNOYING THING EVER.

Is It Normal?

  • I'm sure you are cute. Cameras lie all the time, scientific fact.

    • Not trying to be a creep, but based on your profile, you are very beautiful person. And based on your comments you're also very beautiful on the inside.

      • I'd gladly accept the compliment if I was not so honest when I say... I had to take a dozen pictures to get one that looked halfway decent.

But for the inside part, awh shucks, thanks :D

  • In the mirror you see yourself... well... mirrored. No face is completly symetric and you're used to the mirrored version of yourself. So when you see the "real" you it can seem strange.
Also the human eye still has much better dynamic range than a camera - That means in the mirror you see way smoother tones, while in a photo you're skin will look greasy and ugly if the lighting isn't perfect.

Here are some tips to not look ugly in pictures:
    1. Don't hold the lense an inch infront of your face like most sadistic handy photographers do - It deforms the proportions horribly.
    2. Don't take your picture when it's to dark or to bright. A cloudy day is perfect.
    3. For god's sake don't use a straight flash!

  • The mirror and the camera have completely different ideas about what you look like. Story of my life!

  • You are too funny! I totally understand where your coming from! Same shit happens to me. I hate taking pictures..when i was about to graduate HS I was so against taking my yearbook photo, but I had no choice. My parents begged ME! Or you could rest assure I wouldn't have taken that photo. I looked awful. Camera's suk! I actually look a hell of a lot better on video..strange!

  • The mirror version of yourself is the one that you're used to. The more you see something the more attractive it becomes as you're 'used' to the image. Like if you had a crush or whatever, you end up thinking they're seriously fucking hot over time.

The photograph is the exact opposite of the mirror image. It is a mirror image of the mirror image. It's the version of you other people are used to. To others, you'll look good in photos but to you, you look hideous because you're not 'used' to that version of yourself.

  • Look in the mirror - you are in control: relaxed and (probably) smiling.

Camera - pressure is on. You look and feel nervous (possibly). And it usually captures you while you are blinking or something, right?

Don't stress about it! Happens to all of us.
