UN did what the League of Nations failed to do, and has maintained peace since. The pre cold war world was volatile and wars happened now and then, leaders like Ghengis Khan, Napoleon and Hitler led conquests that lead to millions of people dying in wars, it is because of UN no such things happens today and no single ruler is allowed to achieve so much power.. It is because of the UN disputes and issues that were once settled through wars are today settled diplomatically. Believe it or not, since the UN was established the world has steadily been becoming more and more peaceful, warfare have declined, there were famines and humanitarian crisis everywhere, they have declined, Europe in most of the medieval eras was a place of eternal conflict Jewish-Roman Wars, the Mongol conquests, the 100 years wars, The 80 years war, the 30 years war, Ottoman–Habsburg wars, Napoleonic wars, and of course the 2 world wars, so many deaths and destruction these wars caused, the savagery of humankind, but now they are all allies cooperating together instead of engaging in conflicts, they have formed the EU, eternal enemies like Britain and France have become eternal friends and so on. Say whatever you want but the UN has indeed succeeded in reducing warfare and violence in the world, research and statistics supports my claims. The peace we take for granted today is to the UN.
