Is it normal to worry about something terrible happening to people you care about?

Honestly I’m worried to make friends because I keep falling into this trap of being overprotective and being constantly worried something horrible is going to happen to them!

I think it’s a good thing that you care about your loved ones safety! However, the worrying part makes me feel like this isn’t so normal. Everybody worries from time to time, but if it’s taking over your life or if something bad happening is all you can think about then maybe you should get some help? Or even just talking to the people you’re worried about could help a bit. A problem shared is a problem halved, after all. But I hope this helped in some way and that you feel better soon :)

You've a heart of gold. This proves that you're the genuinely caring type that truly appreciates others. It's ok to be worried about their well-being but don't dwell on the worrying part to the extreme and too much as it can be damaging to your mental health and relationship with them. Try to seek composure and middle ground in your way of thinking.

The fact is that something is going to happen to all of us at some point. You’ll either die by a horrific accident or you’ll get some disease. Very few people just die of natural old age. Everything that means anything to us and everything and everyone we love will be taken. That’s just the cold hard truth of life and that’s why you just gotta enjoy every single moment. Don’t live your life controlled by fear of what may or may not happen in an imagined non existent future. Just live and love it right now in the present moment. Every coin has two sides. You cannot have the good without the bad. You would not know what happiness is unless you’ve experienced sadness. It’s all part of the rich tapestry. Ride lightly in the saddle of life.
