Healthcare in Europe and Canada isn't free. You pay taxes (in some countries higher, in other countries lower) in a way such that everybody has access to quality healthcare whether they're rich or poor. That's how it should work in any civilized society. As a result, the healthcare systems in Europe and Canada have lower costs and better outcomes.
