Is it normal to want to sleep so much?

I am about to start work but all I wanna do is sleep and sleep and stay in my blanket and read my favourite books and chat with online strangers. Been doing so for days now. I only go out to shop and I'm missing out on setting my life in order

    Sounds like mild depression.

Might be the time of year. I tend to be the same way except for me it happens even in summer.

They talk about depression but i don't buy that because every American is diagnosed with one or more of these four ailments -

    1) Depression (any age)
    2) Diabetes type 2 (if you are not anorexic)
    3) Autism (if you are a child)
    4) COPD (if you are older)

Of course health care cost is pretty expensive so while EVERY American has at least one of those conditions, you cannot see a doctor to"treat" it with the latest fad medication.

All that crap aside, so what if someone wants to sleep a lot or stay in bed? I look at it like this on my days off - either i am going to be at home doing whatever or if I go out i will end up spending money.

it depends , i sleep because of depression and anxiety medicine but you may because you're lazy , it is something you would have to answer honestly . Now , is it normal ? in a sense it is and it also is not by nature normal for us to be unproductive but in this era , i feel more and more it is .

I would just not let it ruin your priorities is all! the rest is fine .

This was about to be a normal vote until you said, "Chat with online strangers...only go out to shop." You're absolutely right that you're missing out on setting your life in order. It DOES sound like mild depression. I like to sleep in rather than going to school, but I still have responsibilities. Books are my favorite way to spend in a vacation day. But no, it sounds like you have depression.

I know this isn't normal, because I feel the almost exact same way
