Frustrating, but, go to upper management and advise them that someone you're supervising isn't following direction, and you need help with it or them to get involved. I've hired several people to work for me independently over the years, and it didn't take long to figure out..Be direct and tough, not their best friend..Had one, who, while an absolute beauty and sexy woman, kind of did her own thing if she did anything at all. Met with her twice, explained what needed to be done (for her to keep working for me), and, not two days later, ignored everything I said. I let her go that same Saturday.
