You can't make everyone want you. No matter what you do there will always be outliers, and probably a lot of them. Some goals are a lost cause.

I think you should derive your self-worth from something more inside your own control than the opinions of other people. It's your choice what you choose to make of your own life, but living for other peoples' eyes probably isn't a sustainable way to be happy for anyone.
