Is it normal to wake up with symptoms from a dream?

I had a very vivid dream last night that I somehow got into an accident, and I came back with brain damage with how I perceived it in my dream. In the dream, everything was super blurry, I slurred on my words, and I just couldn't think straight but everyone else around me could.

For some reason my manager and boss were there to make sure I was okay, but I was stuck with this not knowing what to do because I was so confused. I woke up this morning with the slurring on my words and the blurriness and generally not being able to think clearly, but it went away in about 10 minutes. Is that normal? Thoughts on what the dream might have meant?

  • Yes. I figure your real life physical condition effected your dream, like how it's normal for events in your memory to be incorporated into dreams.

I dreamt that I was suffocating and desperately needed to get a belt off one time. I was sleeping face down into my pillow irl and could barely breathe.

One time I went to bed feeling completely normal. Then while I was dreaming,I felt nauseous and weird in the dream, and when I woke up I was super nauseous and I had the flu for a month.

    • For a month?! That sounds awful. Weird how dreams can correlate.

Happened to me before, except instead, I had dipped my foot in lava in the dream (don't ask why, my dream self is dumb) and I woke up with my foot hurting. Not sure why it happens, but as long as it goes away within 10-15 minutes after you wake up, it's probably nothing to worry about.
